The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA is committed to child safety, closing the academic achievement gap, character development, and meeting the needs of families during these difficult times with full-day programming. Our Summer Camp program will incorporate YMCA HEPA Standards (Healthy Eating & Physical Activity) as well as achieving community impact.
Summer is the ideal time for kids to get up, get out and explore, and this is especially true this summer, following almost a year of quarantining, explains Shannon Bujoreanu, School Age Childcare and Camp Director. “The social, emotional and physical benefits camp provides are going to be more crucial in 2021 than ever before! We are thrilled to be able to offer children quality programming that will help them: get active, build relationships with friends, and experience a fun and engaging summer.”
In addition to our traditional camp programming, this year the Y is offering Social-Emotional Learning elements to the camp program as well as educational activities. This will help to combat loss of skills that may have occurred during the 2020-2021 school year.
Online registration begins February 27, 2021.
While campers and parents can expect to see continued compliance with all safety guidelines provided by state and local health departments, the benefits of camp remain constant. We already know and statistics have proven that being outdoors is the safest environment. “Safety has always been our top priority at Lakeland Hills Family YMCA and while COVID-19 is unlike any other challenge we’ve faced, we’re confident that by following guidelines set forth by YMCA of the USA, American Camp Association, CDC and state and local authorities, we will be able to provide kids with a safe, beneficial and memorable experience like no other” said Bujoreanu.
